Hi, I'm Laura Menigoz !
Currently working as Level Artist at Big Bad Wolf Studio
ABOUT
I’m a 3D Level Artist and Environment Artist for video games.
Having a Level 1 RNCP Title in Game Art (from New3dge), I mostly use Unreal Engine and 3D production softwares but have a lot of creative hobbies outside of my work (photography, writing, music composing, resin jewel creation, etc). I post my ongoing works on my blog here!

I have always been captivated by the imaginary worlds of video games. This passion started as a simple curiosity when I was little and I watched my father play games like Tomb Raider, Deus Ex or Max Payne. Then it gradually transformed into a real vocation when I joined New3dge, a Game Art school in Paris, where I have created several virtual environments.
As a student, I had the chance to be guided by exceptional mentors: Anthony Lemetayer (Unreal Engine), Guillaume Deschamps-Michel (Lighting), Lucile Meunier (Concept Art), Camille Delmeule (Character Art) for just name a few. Yannick Gombart, Principal Environment Artist at Arkane Lyon, greatly inspired me to specialize in Environment Art by deepening my skills in modeling and texturing in this direction. Thanks to their wise advice, I took on ambitious projects and gained valuable knowledge that prepared me to take on greater challenges.
During my 2 years at MyCloud3D / Realiz3d, I was confronted with the complexity of creating realistic environments under strong constraints of time and resources. This experience pushed me to push my limits and find creative solutions.

My work on the Warhammer: Chaosbane project at Eko Software was particularly formative. Thanks to this experience, I developed solid expertise in 3D modeling, texturing and level art. I was able to achieve the objectives of my missions on the project : creating a themed level and helping to dress up the very first level of the game as well. I discovered in myself a renewed passion for creating immersive environments that tell a story.
I then had the chance to witness the creation of a project from the start of pre-production to shipping by integrating Big Bad Wolf Studio on the Vampire The Masquerade: Swansong project. During a particularly delicate period (end of production), I had to temporarily assume the responsibilities of my lead and became Associate Lead Environment for a few months. This moment was complex to manage: I had to lead a team of 3 people for several months while producing a considerable amount of content for the game. Despite the challenges, this experience enriched me enormously professionally. I am proud of what I have been able to accomplish and the skills I have developed along the way.
I was also part of the CSE (Work Council), which taught me a lot in terms of communication, conflict management and resolution. As a member of the CSE, I was also very happy to be able to participate in the creation and organization of festive social events at the studio, such as Halloween and Christmas parties, for example, with special activities for these occasions (homemade investigation game, Nerf competition, quiz, etc.).

At the same time and for several years now, I have had the opportunity to work in different schools in Bordeaux (Ynov, ECV and E-Artsup) in order to teach 3D and Environment Art to students and future artists in the industry. Passing on my knowledge is something that I find very rewarding and I am happy to be useful to people wishing to work in the field of Environment Art for video games one day. Being someone else’s “Yannick Gombart” would be a big victory for me.
